Cavite Day ( 149th Birth Anniversary of Emilio Aguinaldo)

I may be the smallest part of bloggers community and may not as active as them, but, it's my pleasure to be invited on this event. It was my first time to attend such and I am so happy. Charge it to my raw experience! Or maybe I was live nearby that is why I was invited. Haha!

Upon receiving email from Louise, social media head of Cavite Tourism and Go Cavite, I hurriedly filed for leave. Ah no! I just notified my superior, it was holiday 'tho : )

Call time was 10:00am , and I was 30mins late. I wonder... the road to Aguinaldo Shrine will never be that easy anymore. I lived nearby so I should know. Before...I can go there in less than 15mins. Without traffic congestion due to intersections. That's how I realized.. this town gone too far. Road widening, intersections, establishments and traffic in between.

Decades ago...we lived just there in Kaingen , few meters away from Aguinaldo Shrine. I witnessed changes from the old house to its renovation. Every event on the mansion especially Independence day would make me hurriedly stand up from our room because you'll hear marching band ''Banda 74'' on street for a parade, that leaves a festive mood on our barangay. The whole event would last a day. I remember I woke up as early as 5am, staring from our window that was made on capiz and witness how busy people are.

Before... only the tomb of Aguinaldo and trees was there at the back of the mansion. Now, I am seeing a souvenier shop. ( In fairness , mura ang tinda sa shop compared sa ibang souvenier shop)

A residential area that we called 'Templo' , was replaced by a Park in front of the mansion that we now call 'Freedom Park' or Liwasang Aguinaldo Park. This was created for Philippine Centennial celebration last 1998.

FREEDOM PARK
And now I witnessed again how the old bridge on the river beside the mansion, was being drilled for reconstruction.

Me : Kuya pwede ba kong dumaan!? (shouting)

Kyah: Ay ne! Wala na! ikot ka na lang! (shouting)

I live in Alapan Imus, and only a trycycle ride in Gahak will get me back home. ( nag bus pa tuloy ako. Dyahe maglakad paikot sa palza, ako lang mag isa. Gumastos pa tuloy ako ng 9 pesos imbes na wala na )

It was part of my childhood years so I was bit sentimental. :)

Going back on the event , It brought me nostalgic feeling on reminiscing my childhood years. Although I live now in Imus, It's only now that I have the time to visit again the entire mansion. When Louise told us that it's up to bloggers if we want to finish the program, I told her that I was Okay to extend ... I am enjoying the entire program and I was not joking! ( akala ata ni madam nagbibiro ako, nag enjoy ako promise.hehe)

149th Birthday of Emilio Aguinaldo (Cavite Day)

I only knew Cavite Day as a Special Non working holiday and a 30% additional pay on my payslip. I didn't knew all along that it is also a celebration of our first president's Birth Anniversary. Malacanang declared this day so we commemorate him for being a part of our struggle on claiming our independence. It was the celebration that was attended by several government officials including Senator Edgardo Angara as speaker who launched the Emilio Aguinaldo @150 Logo.
Rain drizzles when declamation contest was held. Contestants are from different intermediate schools in Cavite. They have their own version of delivering " Panaghoy Kay Crispulo" and everyone deserves to win.
Just like any other birthday, food is also available
The Cavite Heritage Educational series book was also available for sale
To give zest and gaze up the afternoon program, some Cavite Chorale groups performed like : Cavite Provincial Capitol Choir, that's composed of office employees around cavite. CORO REGINA COELI , a church based choir located in Noveleta Cavite and will be competing/perform soon in Vienna. LPU HARMONIC CHORALE , the official Singing Ambassadors of Lyceum of the Philippines . DLSU-D Chorale, Kawit Singing ambassadors and Teatro Baile de Cavite.

Before going home , we had a chance to meet and greet then, capture a shot of Ms. Elinia Imelda Roselle Sangalang, OIC of Provincial Tourism Office.
